Mine never turn out exactly the same, depends on what frozen fruit I have on hand. Use protein powder (cherry, vanilla, lemon tea, strawberry, etc.), non fat yogurt, frozen fruit (usually berries), ground flax, rolled oats, ice cubes, and then maybe a tad of milk, oj or protein ice or something like that.

I don't want to give the impression that I like protein shakes at all ;) but here are a few of mine...

    Protein Shake Ingredients:
8 oz of ice water OR Hood's Chocolate Calorie Countdown (for chocolate based shakes)
    Stevia or Splenda to taste
    6 or so ice cubes
1 serving LC whey protein powder (always add liquids to blender before adding this for best blending)

Add your choice of the following:

    Pumpkin:
2 blocks of frozen pumpkin (ice cube size)
    1/4 t pumpkin pie spice
1 t sugar free maple syrup or maple extract to taste
    pinch of salt.

    Butterfinger:
    1 T cocoa powder
    2 T natural peanut butter

    Peppermint Patty:
    1 T cocoa powder
Peppermint extract to taste (usually 1/8-1/4t)

    Mounds:
    1 T cocoa powder
4 Coconut Milk ice cubes (to replace the ice cubes) or
    Coconut extract to taste

    Chocolate-Banana
    1 T cocoa powder
1/2 banana or banana extract or to taste

    Blueberry:
    1/2 cup blueberries
4 Coconut Milk ice cubes (to replace the ice cubes) or
Lemon or coconut extract to taste
The coconut is what makes this shake so good. :yum:

    Eggnog:
    1 tsp. Rum extract
    pinch of salt (optional)
You may want to add additional sweetner
    top with nutmeg
You may not want to wait for the holidays to try this one! [IMG]

    Strawberry-Peach:
1/2 - 3/4 cup fruit (combo of strawberries & peaches, frozen or fresh)
    1/4-1/2 t almond extract
1 1/2 T dried mint (fresh would work, too)
This one is so good I can't begin to describe it! Try it once and you'll be addicted! :hehe:

    Tropical Delight
    1-2 slices pineapple
    1/2 banana
    3-4 oz blackberries
The blackberries really compliment the pineapple and give it that special something...

And what good is a protein shake if you follow the recipe & it still comes out wrong? :grumble:

Tips for making a great protein shake:
    • The ingredients & amounts are not written in stone. You can eliminate some or change amounts as needed. If you've got extra carbs to use up, add a bit extra fruit, running short on carbs, use less fruit or skip the fruit shake and go for a shake that is lower in carbs. They're ALL great!
    • ALWAYS put your liquid ingredients into the blender before you add your protein powder. This will help it mix better & not stick to the container.
    • You can use fresh or frozen fruit, but I prefer frozen for shakes. It helps to make the shakes thick.
    • The coconut milk ice cubes are really a great addition to some shakes. Do try the blueberry shake with coconut ice cubes--it is fantastic! (well, extract will do in a pinch!)
    • Coconut milk comes in a can, unsweetened (but check the label to be sure). The brand I usually get is Goya. You can find it in the ethnic food section of your grocery store. You pour it into an ice cube tray, freeze, then put the cubes in a baggie in the freezer for adding to your shakes. You can do the same thing for the pumpkin ice cubes.
    • If you like your shakes bit thicker, add a tiny bit of Xanthan after you've blended the other ingredients. Use too much and you'll end up with glue!
    • Penzey's Dutch Cocoa is excellent & only 1g carbs if you're counting.
    • I have found that you really need to figure the stats (carbs/protein/fat/calories) out using your own ingredients because brands vary quite a bit.
    Enjoy! :)

I'm boring, but my standby shake is:
PVL Whey Gourmet Vanilla Ice Cream Royale
1/2 banana (or a whole one, if you want)
    1 cup skim milk

It's SO good. Kind of like a banana milkshake, almost.

Another good one is adding cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to a vanilla shake. I would imagine it's even better if you throw in some pumpkin but I have not gotten around to trying that yet. Maybe tomorrow...

    I'm boring as well.

1 scoop pp - vanilla or plain
    non-fat yogourt
    1 tbsp flax seed oil
frozen fruit (right now I'm into nectarines)
    whip it up and drink

I never measure so sometimes I'll add water if the consistency is too thick.

The orange dreamsicle sounds yummy and simple to make too!

Dane tuna shake? hmmmm. a couple of the recipes sound palatable, but drinking my tuna might take a little getting used to!

    First post! :happy05:

This is my shake recipe... I'm comp dieting and don't get the fruit/carbs of all these other yummy recipes.

THOUGH... my life, and my tastebuds have recently been saved by Crystal Lite! Today's shake was the crystal lite version of magdalynaa's orange dreamsicle... vanilla PP and Orange Crystal lite. Blended with Ice! I think I'm gonna freeze part of the next batch into popsicles! I use choc or vanilla PP and just about ANY flavor of crystal lite. The fruit punch w/ chocolate is good too!
