Can someone direct me to the basic protein ice cream recipe. I can't seem to find it.
If you scroll down about halfway there is a good protein ice cream recipe. When I made it I used Dymatize 12 Hour Fudge Brownie protein powder and it came out great
The basic ice cream recipes I use are:
Protein powder, xanthum gum, LOts of ice, water blend
greek yog, xanthum gum, stevia flavor drops, lots of ice, water, blend.
play with Ice water amt.
bullet works but large more powerful blenders yield a PITCHER ful.
No need to freeze and wait. Comes out soft serve and ready to eat immediately.
Where do you get the xanthum gum? I think I've seen it somewhere but I can't remember where??
I get it in :
health food store
health food section of grocery store (kroger)
If you have a Winco, you can buy it in the bulk section.
I just bought some at whole foods. It is pretty expensive but it says it goes a long way! Im going to make my icecream now.
What are the measurements for each ingredient?
scoop of protein powder (or assiged amt) about 1/4-1/2 tsp of xanthum gum. start with less and tweak.
what kind of blender are you using?
I dont measure the ice or water.. its per container.. You have to 'play' with it and see what tastes best to you.
:shakeithappy: Just made my first batch of protein ice cream. Holy Volume Batman! :batman: I used my Vita-mix and it blew up to about 4 cups of deliciousness. Used banana Myofusion and added a couple drops of banana extract too. I'm full. :yum:
This is definitely going in my 'to do' recipe list:thumb:
so only use about 1/2 or 1/4 teaspoon of the xanthum gum? do u gals use it in your post shakes?
I use Xanthum in my post workout shakes...between 1/8 and 1/4 tsp.
Oooooo, I cant wait to try this!!!!
Soooooo yummy! :thumb:
:bump: for missibrooke
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! This is SOOOOOOO good! Worth the trip to 3 stores to find the xanthan!
Someone has posted something like "what kind of blender are you using?

the same thing I's about to share.
Oh, it's on!!!
I cut up banana's and freeze them. When I make protein ice cream, I toss the frozen banana in the blender with 1 scoop of my favorite protein powder, 1/4 cup almond milk and 1 cup crushed ice. Sometimes I will add a tiny bit of xantham gum for volume.
