    House ... or condo??? LOL

    Depends if you want to live near me... You could get a decent 3br condo for that... maybe a 2br... of course... 1mile away... the same condo will cost you about 1.5 million.

    You could get a decent house in Mira Mesa or Rango Penisquitos (yes, that's how you spell it) for that...

    But even a run down coastal house will run you several million. BOOOOOOO !

    LOL! That's pretty much what you get here too where I live (San Francisco).

    Actually, for $500,000 you can get a one-bedroom/one-bathroom or a small condo. A house is more in the $1 million range :lol:

    That was why we came to Ga. In our area though, the prices are climbing! Not that we are planning a move, but it makes it harder for younger folks to buy something. Oldest Ds and DIL bought the same floor plan/house, new, by the same builder nealy 7ys later and the price was almost 100,000 more! :shock:

    That's why I wouldn't want to build today. I built when things were cheap. My cabinet man told me not long ago that our cabinets would cost over $50,000 today.

    Not too bad if you ask me. Cost of living in the Omaha area if VERY VERY reasonable

    I'm in the suburbs of Amsterdam.

    That's roughly E316,500. It'd buy an inside row house in an uncool neighborhood;

    Text says it needs some work, 3 bedroom and 1 1/2 baths...

    I am 45 mins south of San Francisco and 500k will get you a fairly decent 2/2 condo or a really nice 2/1. for a townhouse you are looking at at least 700k and single family a million unless it is a serious dump. the closer you get to "the city" (SF) the higher the prices.

    I live in this bldg--two story with four one story 2/2 units (540k-570k) a one story 3/2 (650k) at one end and a 3/2 and 1/2 two story "town house" with a private two car garage (700k+) at the other end. this photo is just the very middle of the bldg... my place is on the bottom behind the tree.

    Not much.

    I'd dig up some pics, but I'm being lazy :lol: I'd venture a guess that the biggest thing you could get around here for a half mil would be a small 2bd 1ba on a tiny lot.

    God maybe a 1-2 bedroom home or condo, very small. My sis and her fiance are looking for their first home and there budget is for around $200,000....this amount is not going to get them much at all. I live in Chicago (they have no choice but to look in the far suburbs.

    Our real estate here varies depending on what lake you want to live on or if you want to live in town. You could get a house for 25,000 or over 1 million plus. $500,000 would buy a pretty nice house on the lake.

    I live in Northern CA and 500,000 would get you a decent 3 or 4 bedroom home. Well with the market crashing here even if you had the income or credit the banks will ask you to give them your first born for collatoral. There are foreclosures going up on every block. Everyone is walking away from their homes. When the crazy home market exploded a few years ago, homes where selling for crazy prices and now they are worth about 100,000 -200,000 less. And let not talk about gas prices too
