Yesterday wasn't great, but still better than the day before. Today is a better day so far. I'm on the LBC wait list. Just trying to learn and absorb as much as I can on here until my name comes up. I will over come this. It's just not happening as quickly as I'd hoped. But slowly getting better.

You will overcome this. One foot at a time and one day at a time.

you have to get at the root for the addiction. Are you being too restrictive in your food/calories and over compensating with exercise and cardio or is there a psychological root to it. Depends..

If there is a psychological reason for it, and I assume there usually is, how do you know what is psychologically causing this problem?

you have to do some ground work within yourself. past experiences, childhood traumas, abuse (physical or emotional) , diet history (contest/extreme dieting) stress for some. if you can't at least figure the reason why the trigger then seek professional help.

Hi everyone... I had to reply in hopes that this helps at least one person. I have been a Bulimic for the last 26 years, and been in recovery for the last 11 years. Everyday you have to deal with your disorder, but it does not have to run your life. I finally got some help 11 years ago and put myself into an Eating Disorder hospital. With the help of counselors, psychiatrists and my family, I was able to turn my life around. But.... I had to find this professional help to uncover what was causing me to use bingeing and purging as a coping mechanism. Because that's what it is-a coping mechanism that I have used to deal with so many things in my life.
It is not easy and I will be in recovery for the rest of my life... but because I reached out and got help ( I realized I couldn't do it on my own-that's half the flipping battle right there!! ) I am alive and well today! I feel for you ladies, I really do... because I have been in the deepest depths of my disorder, but I am here to say that I am out of those depths... with continued help and support.

How did you come to the realization about what was causing you to binge and purge? I don't purge, but I have moments where I go on mini binges, and I really don't care.

    To onemadmonkey...
I was able to realize what was causing my bingeing/purging through my stay at the hospital. Through daily group counseling sessions and daily psychiatric appointments while there, I uncovered the root of why I was using these actions to cope with issues that were very deep-seeded. It takes time and brutal honesty with oneself to uncover this, but welllllll worth it!
