For those of you have or are competing, how does your diet change from off-season to on-season? I know you decrease calories, but when you are a 2 weeks out, how low in calories are you? Sorry if my question isn't very clear.

I remember some calculator on BB.com that showed something like a 12 week plan for intense leaning out. Based on my size, by week 12 it had me eating something absurd like 400 cal/day. I ran screaming from my computer when I saw that. People competing don't really go down that low do they????

It's hard to get an answer for this, and hard to GIVE an answer, since it's so personal.
Depends on how lean you need to be; how much weight you have left; who your trainer is etc.
The change from off-season to on-season isn't that drastic for me... or wasn't this year anyways.
But my trainer diets for longer than most, and keeps the cals relatively high, compared to other trainers I have heard of.

Do some have to go as low as 1000 or 1200 calories? I know it's very individual, but I guess my question is, do you get to some caloric point that is unhealthy for comp?

It just depends on how you are progressing, that is when tweaks are made.

Do you have a comp timeframe?

Not a real time frame, but for discussion purposes, I'd say a year out.

Then you shouldn't have to go that low. From what I've seen drastic cardio, drastic diets = poor planning.

Makes sense. I guess what has always freaked me out is the fear of having to do cardio 2 times a day 5-7 days a week and eating so little food consisting of broccoli and chicken. I've painted a grim, weird picture, but that's what I've seen.

I love cookie cutter suggestions. Of course not. That's completely stupid.

Depends on a person's bodyweight. Lighter people need less calories.

As I like to say, anyone who has to do that kind of cardio to get in shape is a certifiable dieting moron.

Oh, I completely agree. It's amazing what some will do to get there. What's even more horrific is when they are done with the show, they weight just comes on. That's what is really terrifying to me. I know you can't look like that year long, but how do you minimize the impact?

By not dieting like a retard. And not eating like a pig after your contest.
