Define 'simpler carbs'.
Fruit juices, bagels, white rice etc...
Bagels, white rice and any other starchy carbs are complex carbs.
 really?? Even if they are made w/ white flour?
Fruit juice? No.
The term 'complex carbs' is a misnomer and outdated.
Bumping because I'm a geek and curious.
Even when using those terms simply to classify them according to their chemical structure?
I personally don't see the relevance, since no one ever talks about, or cares about the chemical structure. People interpret the terms as a measure of 'carb quality'. Complex = good. Simple = bad, except for when correctly timed. Except for the fact that many 'complex carbs' behave like simple carbs, and vice versa.
And even then it's moot. Even using GI as a measure of carb quality is shortsighted since adding other foods reduces it.
Why is fruit juice no good? Not that I drink the stuff. I'm just curious to know why.
You've just flipped my "carb-world" upside down!
I would like to know this to.... !
Because if I drink juice by itself, it goes straight to my head. Headache and tummyache, boo. So fruit juice no good.
I like to mix OJ w/ vanilla PP. I don't drink it alone.
