Thanks Matt. I am curious about the book you suggest and will try to get it.

I should add she had thyroid cancer prior.

Re the estrogen supplementation. The strongest and best estrogen, IF one choses to supplement is Estradiol.

  2. It was my understanding the creams are formed based on what you require to create a balance. The estrogen used (cannot remember the name of it) is not the one that caused problems. Do any of you know of Dr. Ronald Brown? This is who I will be meeting with. Sorry if I sound uneducated on this topic .... Quite frankly I am as it is all new to me.

    That is correct.
Creams are formed and compounded geared towards obtaining balance.

where im unsure on the E supplementation is how much we we truely have in our bodies if its often stored in tissue/fat cells. There are thoughts that serum levels are best and some believe saliva can obtain tissue levels. Im not sure.
and when you then, for some throw in testosterone supplementation (yes woman can without 'juicing' one has to watch that too as it can aromatize to E as well.

Ea patient needs to do their research, discuss with their what they think is best. If you're unsure, get another opinion.

What you are saying is correct, but familial genetic disorders is only about 10% of the population. That means environment is mostly to blame and with proper nutrition, the chances of getting cancer are remote. The problem is, we aren't eating the proper nutrition. We (meaning LBF followers) do a much better job than most people (thanks Erik) but we still often fail. It's not our fault, our food supply is tainted. It's hard to find grass fed/organic chicken or beef. It costs a fortune to buy organic foods. The government's insistence on preserving food (acidifying food) is mostly to blame.

An interesting approach to medicine is from Dr Thomas Rau. His book "The Swiss Secret to Optimal Health" is worth a read. I tend to agree with him. His lectures are You Tube are a must. All of them, but especially the Allergy and Aging one.

I didn't say all cancer was genetic.

Most people that get cancer have a predisposition. Environmental factors then come into play. If it was all environmental then everyone that smokes would get cancer, everyone that breaths in pollution would get cancer, everyone that ate processed food with no fiber would get cancer. Different individuals have thresholds which dictate how much exposure to a "toxin" someone needs for cancer to develop. Therefore, I would say there is alot of genetics that come into play. While some cancers are purely genetic. That wasn't even at all what I was saying in the case of this woman, so again. There was really nothing to disagree with :p

But anyhow, I'm not an oncologist or a specialist in cancer, so I'm not going to argue about it lol

  8. So today was the big day. Got my bloodworm results. I have plenty of estrogen with no testosterone or progesterone. No wonder I gain weight so quick, am always tired and have gotten no stronger over the past year (at least). I know I'm not the only one who has struggled so just wanted to share.

Should I be telling coach about this? Would think its relevant.

    Yes it's very relevant :console:

  10. At least I know and can get creams, etc. that will help me feel like my sassy young self. Growing a family can truly kick the crap out of a woman.

I've started using the bio-cream (estrogen) fro 18mo & the progesterone pill. Things kept getting worse for me as my estrogen kept dropping. First time tested it was a 22 (1/2011) then back in Aug 2012 it was down to a 7-8! I switched to a pill form of estrogen and my doc also check a few other things. I found out my thyroid was low due to the fact that my pituitary gland wasn't releasing my hormones.....and was told I had was hypothalamic amenorrhea.
I have a 10yrold and 5yr old.....I say mention them b/c it wasn't until my second child I went in to see what was wrong with me 3-4mo post op. I was beyond lethargic, dropped weight. Usually by month 5 I'm 10lb thinner than pre pregnancy weight. This happened with both kids....first I was younger and thought it was normal. I found out that I had hyperthyroid. Saw an endocrinologist and they told me it was called post partum thyroiditis. So my thyroid goes on a roller coaster ride for at least a year.
I'm trying to find a balance.....I use to be a cardio queen, along with a ton of plyos between weight sets (when I was a newbie and absorbing info that wasn't right for me). That didn't help me, made me worse. I want to stop the hormones, along with my generic synthroid (I'm on the lowest does, 25mcg). I'd like to see a natural path and see if I can find balance through herbs and whole foods.
I just would love to have a healthy-balanced lifestyle. Any advice is welcomed!! :)

Jen i went hyperthyroid Supposed Graves Diseases after a miscarage then birth ofDS #3. They wanted to radiate my thyroid but i refused. Treated with PTU and went into Remission. After DS#4 has some issues and then threated to miscarry DS#5.

Went severely hypoThyroid after #5 and fought to get treated. By then, i still had some graves antibodies but hashimotos was now the main antibodies taking hold.

Most herbs excetra wont balance your thyroid hormones, it takes thyroid hormones. Often though, synthroid isnt enough because many women do not convert the T4 to T3.

    Thank you Inatic!!
I want to go get more tests, thoroughly, done. I just read yesterday about the T4 to T3. I feel that there is more to this than what is happening......like I'm not fully back to normal (I'm 33). I just don't know if I should go back to my regular dr or an NP. I'm just nervous that the dr will check my levels and say that I need more synthroid, which I think it may be something else (albeit adrenals & what not)....or not reading my results correctly.

My understanding is that the hormones that were found to cause cancer were synthetic, not the bio-identical hormones.

After thinking about this for more than a year, I saw a doctor yesterday and I am finally being tested. And Steph, thanks for the link for DirectLabs on the CW page - I'm going to order the thyroid and heart tests that my doctor won't do. Illeen and Steph, I can't thank you enough for the gentle encouragement you've both offered me via your posts here and on FB to finally begin this process.

This doctor suggested we first try an "imperical" option with NuvaRing or Depo Provera (I used this years ago and my body loved it - only had good side effects). I'm waiting until we get my results back but I'm tempted to skip these options and go Bio-Identical. I have signs of Estrogen dominance and Low Progesterone from what I've learned online. BUT, who and what do you trust online? Does anyone have a favorite source for hormone replacement information? Thanks!

I personally would not use either of those as they are not bioidentical. i've heard to many horror stores of people using depro and getting messed up. For me, bioidentical is all id use.

Thanks, Illeen. I'm going to discuss bioidentical with him when we get the bloodwork results back. I actually loved Depo, it gave me great skin and I lost 10 pounds, but that was 18 years ago and there are no guarantees that my body would react the same way today. Is there anything I should know about the difference between types of bioidenticals? Is there a site you like for trustworthy information on it? Thanks!

I ordered the tests a few weeks ago. Thank goodness. I have a low thyroid and I'm 27 and my hormone levels are so off that my body thinks its in POSTMENOPAUSE. What a disaster. I got on a low dose of generic synthroid (getting retested in 6 weeks. may go bio-identical on that too) and I'm waiting on my compound pharmacy to get my cream. I'm so ready to have this energy back. My poor husband and little one had me constantly screaming and I had to deal with night sweats. I'm so ready to get this fixed. Wish me luck that we get it right sooner than later with the cream!
